Family Camp Lhasang, August 2009

aaa.jpg click here to see more pictures. Family Camp opened with a Lhasang ceremony, a ritual fire in which juniper and various substances are burned to create a column of smoke connecting earth and sky. The smoke invites energy of basic goodness, purification and the lineage of Shambhala.

The ceremony underlines the fact that family camp is part of the Shambhala view of creating a society of decency, friendliness and nonaggression. The gathering around the column of smoke accentuated the transition from the dog eat dog, big fish eat little fish world of samsara to the world of gentleness and compassion.
