City Dream

Use a pocket camera to make it more realistic. Walk quickly down the street, quite importantly, talking out loud like a lunatic. (more…)

I had two espressos, at Social Club on St. Viateur. Afterwards, I rode to the end of the blue line, to metro Snowdon and took some photos during the evening light.

aaa4.jpg click here to see more photos. The best part of the day was going for Easter diner at the home of Esther and Jean Francois Rochon. We enjoyed a wonderful meal and a warm, friendly atmosphere. Afterwards, Malina and I returned to Mile End. I went for coffee at Olympico Cafe, sometimes known as Open Da NIght. It felt great to sit there in the late afternoon sunlight, in the mellow atmosphere, a great cup of coffee, to look around at other people enjoying coffee and conversation. (more…)

Malina reading a comic book in Social Club yesterday afternoon; this morning the old fridge made a dreadful sound, sort of like a barber’s razor held up to a microphone and amplified loud enough to fill a dance hall. aaa2.jpg click here to see more photos. Good Friday is a good day to go for coffee. It’s good there’s no work today. It’s good to relax and enjoy the day. I went to Cafe Depanneur, on Rue. Bernard, at 7 AM and had two espressos and a croissant. It’s a cool cafe, fixed with with the ambiance of the sixties, old signs, a rustic wooden floor, old tables and chairs, picturesque objects. It was fun to be one of the first customers of the day. (more…)

I never tasted the Italian cake until moving to Montreal in 1995. Malina described panetone as being fluffy, yum yum yum ah hah inside. It’s fluffy and good. (more…)
